Oculus Rift’s recommended PC specs are steep, but surprisingly reasonable - munrosteepire

Virtual world is starting to feel truly actual, for real. Dependable, we're still six months out from the proposed HTC Vive launching and even further out from Optic's early 2022 consumer-ready Rift. But at present we have recommended PC specs!

That's right-minded: This morning Oculus declared recommended specs for attaining "the choke-full Rift experience," and you know what? They're surprisingly reasonable considering the horsepower VR requires. Much more reasonable than the dual-GTX 980 rigs some people have been building in anticipation.

  • Nvidia GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
  • Intel i5-4590 like OR greater
  • 8GB+ RAM
  • Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
  • 2x USB 3.0 ports
  • Windows 7 SP1 OR newer

According to Oculus, "The goal is for all Rupture games and applications to hand over a great experience on this contour. Ultimately, we believe this will be key to VR's succeeder, as developers can optimize and melody their game for a known spec, consistently achieving presence and simplifying development."
